Information for law firms and attorneys
A cohort whose members have already documented their claims.
BDAP is a free resource and advocacy platform for federal student loan borrowers whose Borrower Defense applications fell outside the Sweet v. McMahon class window. Members choose, on their own behalf, to submit a sworn statement and complete a structured confidential intake. Vetted counsel may then access a searchable vault of that member-submitted data, instead of reviewing loose documents.
What the legal vault gives you
The vault is built to help answer the questions a firm asks when deciding whether to consider a group case: how many, how similar, how provable, and who can stand in front.
Case search
Every confidential intake in one searchable table, filtered by school, state, loan status, evidence on hand, and willingness to serve as a named plaintiff.
Cohort dashboard
Live counts of members, schools, and states, plus totals borrowed, current balances, out-of-pocket loss, garnishment and offset reports, and claim prevalence across the group.
Claim commonality view
Which representations members heard, how often, and what written proof exists - the commonality picture in a single screen instead of a hundred PDFs.
Private notes and shortlists
Rate cases one to five stars, keep private notes, and build named shortlists. Notes and lists are visible only to the attorney who created them.
Exports and packets
One click for a spreadsheet of exactly the set you filtered, or a print-ready case packet with one case per page and a confidentiality header.
Sworn statements attached
Each intake links to that member's signed statement, including notarized versions where the member obtained one.
What every record contains
Members complete the same structured intake, so the records line up field for field across the cohort. Nothing here is free text you have to re-key.
Public sworn statements are separate and visible to members. The confidential intake below is never public and never appears in the member vault.
- Identity, residency, and date of birth for standing
- School, program, campus, and exact enrollment and end dates
- Specific representations made, by whom, and in what form
- Whether written proof exists, and what kind
- Loan types, servicers, amounts borrowed, and current balances
- Out-of-pocket costs, garnishment, tax offset, and credit harm
- Prior filings, prior settlements, and any releases signed
- Consent to counsel review, consent to contact, and named-plaintiff willingness
How access works
Introduce yourself
Email hello@bdaproject.org with your firm, bar admission, and the scope you are considering. We answer every message.
Get admitted and sign
The site owner admits your account to the vault. On first entry you sign a short confidentiality agreement covering use, storage, solicitation, and destruction.
Review at your own pace
Search, filter, take private notes, build shortlists, and export what you need. Contact details appear only for members who opted in to being contacted.
Our terms, plainly
- - BDAP charges nothing, to members or to counsel, and accepts no payments of any kind.
- - There is no fee-sharing, referral fee, or compensation arrangement of any kind.
- - BDAP does not recommend or endorse any lawyer or firm to its members.
- - Access requires admission by the site owner and a signed confidentiality agreement.
- - Every search, view, export, and print is logged, and every copy carries a tracking number.
- - Members may withdraw their confidential record at any time, and it disappears from the vault immediately.
