Vault Confidentiality Agreement

Every statement in the vault was written by someone describing the worst financial decision of their life, in their own words, under penalty of perjury. Members read each other's statements only because everyone in the room has made the same commitment. This is that commitment.
This agreement is short on purpose. You should be able to read it in under two minutes. Read it anyway.
1. What "vault content" means
Vault content means anything you can see inside the vault: another member's name, school, program, figures, narrative, reliance statement, employment history, counterfactual answer, notarization status, or any other part of their affidavit.
2. The vault is private
The vault's contents are shared only with members who have their own approved affidavit on file and who have signed this agreement.
3. You will not take vault content outside this platform
You will not share, screenshot, photograph, copy, download, forward, retype from memory, or otherwise redistribute any vault content, in whole or in part, to anyone outside this group. This includes social media, group chats, text messages, and journalists.
4. You will not use vault content for anything other than understanding this shared effort
You will not use another member's statement, or any detail from it, for any purpose other than understanding this shared effort. You will not contact another member about their statement outside the platform without their permission.
5. Your own statement is exposed on the same terms
Your own approved affidavit is visible to other qualifying members under this exact same agreement. Signing this agreement is what lets you read others' statements, and it is also what makes your own statement readable by them. That trade is the whole design of the vault.
6. What we record when you sign
When you sign this agreement, we record your typed name, the date and time, and the IP address you signed from. This is part of the vault's audit trail.
7. Your access can be revoked without advance notice
If you violate this agreement or the Terms of Service, BDAP can revoke your vault access immediately, without warning you first. This may also lead to your membership being suspended or terminated.
8. This obligation survives your membership
Your duty under Sections 3 and 4 does not end when you leave the platform, delete your account, or lose vault access. If you read something in the vault, you are bound by this agreement about that content forever, even afterward.
9. Who can enforce this, and what can happen if you break it
If you violate this agreement, BDAP can revoke your vault access and end your membership. You acknowledge that sharing vault content outside this group causes harm that is often difficult to undo and difficult to measure in money alone - once a statement is out, it is out. Because of this, BDAP or the affected member may seek a court order to stop further sharing of the exposed content, in addition to any other remedy available. If your violation exposed another specific member's statement or harmed them, that member may also pursue a claim for actual damages against you directly, separate from anything BDAP does. If BDAP or an affected member has to go to court to enforce this section and wins, the losing party will pay reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.
10. This is not legal advice
This is a member-to-member trust agreement. It is not legal advice. BDAP is not a law firm. Signing it creates no attorney-client relationship between you and BDAP or between you and any other member.
How and where you sign
This page is the reference text of the agreement. You do not sign it here. You sign it the first time you open the vault after your affidavit is approved. At the vault entry gate you are shown each commitment above as a checkbox, you type your full legal name (which must match your profile), and you confirm to enter. We record your typed name, the date and time, and the IP address you signed from. There is no download button for this agreement or for anything in the vault. That is deliberate: the vault exists to be read, not to be taken away.
